Natural Disaster Movies – A Complete List

by Derrick James

There will always be natural disasters — tsunamis, wildfires, hurricanes, the list goes on — and there will always be natural disaster movies, as long as humans have cameras. Here we present an extensive list of natural disaster movies in alphabetical order, for your reference the next time you feel like watching and sympathizing with people in dangerous circumstances where nature is the enemy.

Tired of prepper movies? As a prepper, you’ve probably spent time thinking about what you’d do if a natural disaster hit your area. Maybe you’ve got an evac route or a whole secret bug-out plan for when the next freak storm that shuts down services around you. Or, depending on your geographic location, maybe you’ve done something like clear the brush around the edges of your property to make it less likely that the flames of a forest fire reach your house.

But what if it were even stranger? Like how would you deal with being in the path of the lava flow of an erupting volcano? What about if — whether due to global climate change or not — a second Ice Age set in? How would you survive? How would you find the members of your family who weren’t with you when disaster struck?

These are some of the questions to ask yourself as you pore over this list. Take your time, bear in mind what streaming services you have access to, and choose two or three of the movies below to watch. There are some real quality stories in the bunch, and when you’re done with these, you can move on to a much more substantive list – post-apocalyptic movies!

Also, to make sure our claim “complete list” continues to be true, make sure to suggest any additions in the comment section at the very bottom of the page.

And awaaay we go!
