Crimson Trace Laser Grip on an S&W J Frame

by Derrick James

Yo yo yo, ho ho ho, preparedness peeps. Here’s an end of the month shout out to all of you faithful followers that used the Amazon search bar here for your holiday shopping this month – shout out! Thanks for the small commission Amazon sends.
On that note, Santa gave me … THIS:

No, no, no, not the Smith and Wesson 638 Bodyguard Airweight .38 Special +P J Frame conceal and carry revolver. To the right of that, the Crimson Trace laser grip. I’ll tell ya, Santa really knows how to treat a guy. This is one of those items where, with my budget, I’d really have to think long and hard about, but with Santa’s budget – no problem!
I mean, if you’re packing concealed while buying a 6-pack of beer 1/2 gallon of milk at the local convenience store, and a thug pimp playa decides to throw down on the cashier, whooping out a 9mm and threatening to bust a cap on her, do you really want to take the time to aim that snub nose .38 or do you just want grab and – ooh, look at that – LASER!
Exaaaactly!

Installing this thing was slick as that which hits the fan. I just unscrewed the original grip, spread the Crimson Trace grip open, threw in a couple of batteries (came included), screwed the new, more attractive looking grip on, and shazam!

But wait! Here’s the best part:

No, I haven’t had a chance to take it to the range yet to adjust the laser for thug-distance range, but I will. The thing I like about this is that there’s just no thinking involved. You’re in a stressful situation, someone is breaking into your home, your heart is racing fast, just grab and point. Thanks, Santa!

What’d he put in YOUR stocking?

I’ve really taken a liking to those little 5-shot Smiths in +P .
I picked one up about 4 years ago , and it made a decent little summertime carry pistol .
Not long after , I ended up giving it to my fiance as her purse pistol . She couldnt seem to get used to an auto and is messed up due to a botched surgery , so it works well for her.
Just this past fall , I happened into another one , this time a Bodyguard , also in 38+P , but with the built-in laser . . . .we love it , it’s a great , light pistol and perfect for her .

The only prep related things that I received were: A WaterBOB, Large block of wax (intended as a joke but the joke is on them, I actually wanted it), and a new BOV! 85 Ford F250 (needs a lot of work but I am up for the challenge)

Hey Rangerman,
I’ve got a 442 that I have been meaning to get a crimson trace for for months. I’m curious exactly which model of grip you bought? I know there are, IIRC, 3 different grip types for the J frames (solid, rubberized, & something else that I don’t remember).
Thanks,
Kang

Santa brought me the “Crimson Trace Chestnut S&W J-Frame Round Butt Laser Grip.” I “think” he got it from OpticsPlanet.com. Should you order from them, email me and I’ll give you a 5% off coupon code.

I got wool socks and a really cool field guide that breaks Washington state down into geographic zones and lists what you might encounter and should keep an eye out for in each zone.
