Report of the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack
This is the 2008 in-depth report to Congress on the threat to the United States from an EMP. They conducted tests on equipment and vehicles and project what would happen if the U.S. was subjected to an EMP. Chapters include Electric Power, Telecommunications, Banking and Finance, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Transportation Infrastructure, Food Infrastructure, Water Infrastructure, Emergency Services, Government and more.
"This is NOT a 'survival manual'. It is a threat assessment. The report is available in its entirety online (PDF format), for FREE--it's a public document. Why anyone would pay for this report is beyond my comprehension. This is not meant to be a comprehensive instruction manual for surviving an EMP attack.
This report issued it's findings the same week as the 9/11 Commission Report was published and this report received essentially zero news coverage. Politicians don't talk about it because it doesn't buy them votes talking about strengthening our electrical grid and making expensive stockpile purchases of essential equipment (large capacitors, backup generation capabilities and shielded grid control systems) to prevent massive damage to the grid and repair damaged infrastructure in the event of an EMP event."
